Does your bub have a food allergy or intolerance?

Behavior traits or physical signs that may indicate your child is allergic or intolerant to a particular food:

  • Moodiness or irritability
  • Aggressiveness or uncooperativeness
  • Learning difficulties
  • Inability to focus or concentrate
  • Black circles under the eyes
  • Blotchy skin or rash
  • Loose stools or flatulence
  • Vomiting

If you would like to have your child tested for food allergies, the least invasive methods are elimination diets, kinesiology or hair testing. Other methods are blood tests or skin scratching. Consult your preferred health practitioner.

Initially it can be overwhelming for parents to discover a child is intolerant or allergic to certain foods, but children are often quick to adjust. The changes in behaviour can be dramatic so persevere and you will find you have a much happier & healthier child.

Tips for introducing a new allergy-free diet:

  • Take baby steps towards introducing alternatives
  • Mix old with new until you gradually wean your child
  • Have the entire family change over to the new food
  • Use old & familiar packages for the new food
